2024 Clean Up Dates

Welcome to 2024!!!

It’s time once again to plan those summer events.

The Friends of the South Fork Kings River once again invites you to join us for our 21st Anniversary, Annual Litter Clean-Up Events, along the eastern terminus of California Highway 180 and South Fork of the Kings River.

In Association with:
Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park Service
– National Forest Service (Sequoia & Sierra)
Caltrans District 6

Check the National Park Website for current road & weather conditions.

Depending on the availability of CA-180 into Cedar Grove, these events may be held along the last 21 miles of CA-180 from Yucca Point to Kanawyers, meeting initially at the Cedar Grove Lodge (86724 CA-180, Kings Canyon National Park, CA 93633). Or, they may be held at nearby Hume Lake Campground day use area.

According to Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park Service & Caltrans Central Valley District 6; CA-180 suffered extensive damage between the Hume Lake cut-off & Boyden Cavern Adventures & Tours During the Spring of 2023. Resulting in several debris Flows and wash outs. As of January 25th, all rockslides have been cleared, washouts are being filled, a new retaining is being installed at PM 126.3, and drainage work is in progress. Reconstruction of the roadway itself is currently planned for the spring and pending warmer temperatures

To purchase your park entrance pass in advance, or campsite reservations check out the recreation.gov website.

This year the South Fork Kings River Clean-Up events are planned for Saturdays May 11th (Updated), June 1st, July 13th, August 10th, September 7th, October 5th, & November 9th.  These dates may be subject to change due to COVID restrictions and road/weather conditions, but we’re going to try.
